A Sneak Peak At My Time Travel Story

Greetings internet wayfarer!

Something tells me you’re interested in my upcoming novel. Let me introduce you to the cast.

Trevor
A nineteen-year-old Britisher who yearns to escape the chaos of the society he lives in and just be at peace. Life, though, seems to have a way of thwarting that desire. He’s a practical, self-sufficient person, and the hero of the tale. In his actions, he can be drastic both for good and bad, and he causes about as much disruption to the story as the villain does.

Kayce
Kayce is Trevor’s seventeen-year-old sister. She’s an idealist, an encourager, and very spunky, not to mention she’s brave, sweet, and a little crazy. She and Trevor are polar opposites. Scenes with her and Trevor together aren’t normal, nor for that matter, scenes with her and anybody.

The Scientist
A super-genius and the story’s villain. Ironically, he has the same yearning as Trevor — to be at peace and free from the terrors of society. In order to fulfill his dream, his goal is to travel back in time and use superior technology to crush all resistance to his absolute power.

Sir John Oldcastle
A young knight and a real historical person. A systematic and resolute figure, skilled in leading men. His dedication to freedom leads him to fight an impossible war against the usurping scientist.

Tristan
This character came into being because a friend recommended I write about a pessimistic jester. As soon as I started writing him though, he became… so much more. Possibly the most lovable character I have ever written, but not in a cute way. He’s a deep character.

And then, of course, there are plenty of lesser figures, but I guess you’ll have to read the story to meet them all. In the mean time, I wanted to give you a short “Q&A” about this book.

Q: What led you to write this story?
A: First of all, the concept of a scientist going back in time and using superior technology to try and rule the world. I thought the idea was fascinating. The real reason I wrote this story though is because of the “heart” behind it. At the heart of this story is a struggle between cowardice and courage. Sure, most novels are about that topic in some sense, but this one is to a much greater degree. You see, cowardice is something I struggle with, and I really didn’t want to write about it, but I knew that if I faced that fear head on, I would create good art. I did so, and I think it worked out. It bled out onto the page.

Q: Who was your favorite character to write?
A: Kayce for sure. What can I say? She’s spunky.

Q: What most excites you about this novel?
A: I think what I most love about it is the ending. My goal is always to make that last chapter as unforgettable as possible, and I’m pretty pleased with what I came up with this time. It might even be my best ending yet. We’ll wait and see.

I hope you enjoyed this short sneak peek.

Until next time!

  1. Nice one. Would be interesting to read the confrontation between two men who want the same thing through very different ways. How the protagonist shows that evil can not bring out good, not the one that comes from GOD would be interesting to read.

  2. Oh! I cannot wait for this to come out!! I have a feeling I’m going to get along pretty well with Kayce. 🙂
